Set in the heart of the Cotswolds, on a unique 400 acre site, the Fire Service College is a world leader in providing specialist fire training for Fire & Rescue services and commercial organisations, worldwide.
We have an exceptional opportunity for a Health & Safety professional with the skills and expertise to provide a consistently high level of service and expert, authorative advice to the College.
Reporting to the Director of Estates and Infrastructure Services, you will:
• Take responsibility for driving change and improvement in Health & Safety issues in this world class environment.
• Provide professional Health & Safety services to the College and formulate/develop best practice Organisational Health & Safety policies.
• Facilitate and deliver Health & Safety training courses for College staff.
• Manage the Health & Safety unit within budget. Develop and implement action plans including setting realistic short and long term objectives.
• Determine Health & Safety priorities, establish suitable performance standards, monitor/review performance.
• Develop and maintain systems/procedures for accident reporting, audits/reviews. Provide concise reports/information to management.
You must have at least 3 years relevant experience in an Occupational Health & Safety role – preferably gained in industrial, technical or practical environments. You will have a NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent, be a member of IOSH and have evidence of significant Continued Professional Development.
Well developed communication skills will be combined with high levels of energy and enthusiasm. You must be able to establish collaborative and productive partnerships at all levels. PC literacy including a good working knowledge of Microsoft Office is also required.
