Tasked with maintaining the UK’s nuclear deterrent, the Atomic Weapons Establishment is unlike any other organisation. As one of the nation’s largest high technology research and development facilities, our scientific and engineering expertise is second-to-none. And the same exacting standards apply to everything we do. Join our ‘blue-chip’ science environment, and you can expect unparalleled opportunities to develop your career across diverse technical fields.

With responsibility for providing a wide range of assurance advice within a specific business area, you’ll enjoy a variety of challenges, primarily focusing on health & safety but also looking at environmental issues. We’ll expect you to provide advice on all aspects of ESH, delivering briefings and occasional training as well as undertaking audits and reviews, and performing a spectrum of risk assessments.

We’ll be looking for a relevant Health & Safety qualification such as NEBOSH and you’ll either have an NVQ or be working towards one. This will certainly be supported by good technical skills and, ideally, an environmental qualification, such as the IEMA Certificate in Environmental Management.

As well as the opportunity to continually develop your skills and abilities, you’ll enjoy a superb benefits package. One that includes 28 days’ holiday in addition to statutory bank holidays and a final salary pension scheme. For both roles, relocation assistance can be provided if appropriate.

Because of the nature of work associated with the post, it is subject to special nationality rules and is open only to British citizens. All selected candidates will be required to undergo security clearance.
